Sustainability

The Government would like every school to be a sustainable school by 2020 and Wood View Learning Community is no exception. A sustainable school prepares young people for a lifetime of sustainable living, through its teaching, its fabric and its day-to-day practices. It is guided by a commitment to care for oneself, each other and for the environment.

Wood View Learning Community has an action group working to make the campus more sustainable. This action group includes both students and staff from the learning community partners and Interserve FM.

To be totally sustainable there are eight areas that need to be addressed. These are Food and drink, Energy and water, Travel and traffic, Purchasing and waste, Buildings and grounds, Inclusion and participation, Local well-being and the Global dimension.

At present the action group is working towards the first of three awards towards sustainability. Our action plan can be viewed using the link below.
